The Spindle Veneer Lathe is a classic and core piece of equipment in plywood veneer production. It rotates the log by gripping it with sturdy spindles at both ends and feeds a precision knife carriage to peel the wood into continuous, uniform veneer sheets. Single Spindle Veneer Lathe: Uses a driving spindle at only one end, with the other end typically supported by a tailstock, resulting in a relatively simpler structure.

Dual Spindle Veneer Lathe: Employs active driving spindles at both ends that operate synchronously, providing greater clamping force and driving torque. It is the main machine for processing large-diameter logs.

Working Principle

Single-end active drive. One active spindle provides the main driving force for rotation. The other end is supported and centered by a passive tailstock (often a conical or spherical center).

Dual-end synchronous drive. The log is driven synchronously and in the same direction by two active spindles at both ends, which provide powerful clamping force and rotational torque.

Work Process

1.Log Loading & Centering: The log is positioned, and the tailstock advances to support one end.

1.Log Loading & Alignment: The log is positioned between the two spindles and aligned via hydraulic or mechanical means.


2.Spindle Clamping: The main spindle extends, pierces, and clamps the other end of the log.

2.Dual-end Synchronous Clamping: Both spindles extend synchronously, pierce, and clamp the two ends of the log.


3.Peeling: The main spindle rotates the log, the tool carriage feeds, and peeling begins.

Single-spindle axes are an economical and practical choice, suitable for processing logs of medium size and below.

Double-spindle axes are high-performance and high-yield options, and are the industry standard for large-diameter log processing on a large scale.
