Introduction of OSB and OSB Making Machines
01 WHAT IS OSB BOARD?
OSB board is belongs to particleboard. During the molding of the particleboard, the upper and lower surfaces of the oriented particleboard arrange the mixed rubber particleboard in the direction of its fiber, while the core layer particleboard is arranged horizontally to form a three-layer structural board embryo, and then the oriented particleboard is made by hot pressing.
The shape of this particleboard requires a relatively large length and width, and the thickness is slightly thicker than that of ordinary particleboard. Directional paving methods include mechanical orientation and electrostatic orientation. The former is suitable for large shavings oriented paving, while the latter is suitable for small shavings oriented paving. The directional paving of particleboard makes it have the characteristics of high strength in a certain direction, and it is often used instead of plywood as structural materials.
02 THE ADVANTAGES OF OSB
It is a cost-effective option against plywood or medium density fiberboards. Laminated particle boards and veneered particle boards provide decorative looks in low price as compared to plywood. It provides smooth and flat surface for sticking decorative laminates or wood veneer. This particle board is stronger and aesthetically attractive. Thus laminated particle board and veneered particle boards are now used in mass production of office furniture. Due to its lightweight property, particle board can be easily transported and handled. Particle board has more screw holding capacity as compared to MDF, so it is widely used to make furniture which can be assembled using screws. It requires minimal maintenance and is easy to clean. Particle boards have thermo-acoustic insulation properties, so they are very much useful in speakers and in false ceiling of auditoriums, theaters, etc.
03 OSB PRODUCTION PROCESS
1. Prepare stages:
Wood chip sorting machine: Used to sort and screen wood chips obtained from sawmills, woodworking factories, etc., to remove impurities and unqualified wood chips.
Chipper machine: Used to chip wood into wood chips, usually using rotating cutting tools to chip wood into wood chips of a certain size.
2. Mixing and forming stages:
Mixer: Equipment used to mix wood chips with adhesive and other additives uniformly, ensuring that the mixture has a certain uniformity and moisture content.
Forming machine (Particle board forming machine): Used to press the mixed wood chips and adhesive into a board shape, usually using continuous or batch forming machines for molding.
3. Pre press and hot press stages:
Continuous press machine for pre-press particleboard, and make it in a certaine initial strength.
Hot press for press particleboard in a high pressure and heating temperature.
4. Trimming and cutting stages:
Trimming machine: Used to trim and edge the chipboard after hot pressing, to remove possible unevenness and excess adhesive, and to make the surface of the board flat.
Cutting machine: Cuts the trimmed chipboard into the required sizes and specifications, usually with both cross-cutting and longitudinal cutting methods.
