Automated drying solutions for plywood veneers
The core working principle can be summarized as "Mesh Belt Conveying with Hot Air Jet Drying":
1. Conveying and Holding: Veneers are fed into the machine inlet and placed onto the lower mesh belt (carrying belt). Simultaneously, the upper mesh belt (holding belt) covers the veneers, clamping them between the two belts as they move forward. This design effectively suppresses warping and deformation of the veneer during the drying process.
2. Hot Air Injection: Inside the heating section, circulation fans force air through radiators (heat sources can be steam, thermal oil, or a hot air furnace) to heat it to a high temperature. This hot air is then directed through precisely designed nozzle boxes, injecting high-velocity air vertically onto both the top and bottom surfaces of the veneer.
3. Efficient Heat and Mass Transfer: The pressure from the high-velocity injected air breaks through the saturated vapor layer on the veneer surface. This allows heat to penetrate quickly and directly into the veneer core while simultaneously carrying away the evaporated moisture, which is then expelled from the machine via the moisture exhaust system. This efficient heat and mass transfer mechanism results in a very rapid drying process.
4. Cooling and Setting: After drying, the veneer enters the cooling section, where it is further cooled by ambient air, allowing residual moisture to evaporate. This process sets the veneer, preventing it from reabsorbing moisture after exiting the machine.

Core Structure and Key Technical Parameters
The structural design of the mesh belt dryer is flexible and can be configured as a single-layer, double-layer, or triple-layer system based on production capacity requirements. The main technical parameters for different layer configurations are compared below:
Technical Parameter | Single-Layer Mesh Belt Dryer | Double-Layer Mesh Belt Dryer | Triple-Layer Mesh Belt Dryer |
Drying Capacity | 0.5 - 1 m³/h | 1 - 1.5 m³/h | 2 - 3 m³/h |
Applicable Thickness | 0.2 - 4 mm | 0.2 - 4 mm | 0.2 - 4 mm |
Number of Layers | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Heating Section Length | 6 zones, 18m total | 9 zones, 18m total | 12 zones, 24m total |
Total Power | 32 kW | 47 kW | 85 kW |
Drying Temperature | 150 - 180℃ | 150 - 180℃ | 140 - 180℃ |
Mesh Belt Material | Stainless steel, with photoelectric deviation correction | Stainless steel, with photoelectric deviation correction | Stainless steel, with photoelectric deviation correction |
Process Positioning: It is important to note that mesh belt dryers are typically suitable for the "dry-before-cut" process. This means continuous or large sheets of veneer are dried first and then cut to size. This complements the roller dryer, which is often used for the "cut-before-dry" process (mainly for drying core veneers).
